Roman Ruddick was diagnosed with ovarian cancer a few weeks before graduating high school. Roman is trans and experienced distressingly gendered cancer treatment. Realizing that there are very few cancer resources and support groups created by and for patients themselves, and even less created with trans people in mind, a few years later they co-founded the Transgender Cancer Patient Project. This is a community led initiative for and by trans patients. Roman, and co-founder Charlie Manzano, run online support groups, attend events, and create zines for trans people affected by cancer.
This is a section from one of Roman’s zines, called “Now What?” You can read the rest at the Transgender Cancer Patient Project website. You can also buy them here!
