Inclusivity & accessibility

Inclusive language
We commonly use the term Sexual and Gender Diverse and the acronym SGD as an umbrella term to describe individuals whose sexual orientations, gender identities, or gender expressions differ from heterosexual or cisgender identities. We also interchangeably use the acronym 2SLGBTQI+ (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and additional terms) to describe sexual and gender diverse identities. Please refer to the Government of Canada’s “What is 2SLGBTQI+“ for more detailed information about terminology.
Language and terms relating to SGD communities are always evolving, and not everyone uses the same language. We are committed to using respectful and inclusive language that affirms individuals’ identities and experiences
