Queer in common country

Kara Sievewright is an artist and writer who mainly creates poetic fiction comics and social justice themed non-fiction comics and illustrations. She lives on Haida Gwaii as a settler on unceded Haida territory.

Sievewright’s Queer in Common Country was featured in The Remedy: Queer and Trans Voices on Health and Health Care (Sharman, Arsenal Pulp Press, Vancouver, BC, 2016) and is also available on the artist’s website.

It describes the experience of the author’s partner Brady, a trans man, undergoing treatment for breast cancer and navigating the cisnormative and fractured healthcare system.
