QC on CBC
We recently spoke with CBC host Jamie Fitzpatrick about the work of Queering Cancer.
During the call Amanda talked about the need for affirming cancer care for 2SLGBTQI+ people and why QC exists. James Moriarty reflected on his experience as a trans man with gyne cancer, and his invaluable work on QC’s TRANSforming Gyne Cancer Care project.
“My biggest piece of advice would probably be to both advocate for yourself and to allow others to advocate for you, if you find that advocating for yourself is difficult ... You can change a lot things about the way you are receiving care, you can even change a lot of attitudes... Go in expecting the worst and hoping for the best and make sure you have someone on your side. That will help a lot. ”
