Community of Practice
Our virtual community of practice (CoP) brings together 2SLGBTQ+ healthcare professionals working across cancer care to connect, share ideas, and support one another in creating meaningful change. Although our focus is on supporting queer, trans and gender diverse communities, we warmly welcome allies and 2SLGBTQ+ people with lived experience of cancer who want to contribute to collective learning and more inclusive practice.
About the group
The CoP meets virtually on Zoom for one hour. Each session includes a blend of learning, facilitated discussion and space for connection and peer exchange.
This is a responsive and evolving space, we will gather feedback along the way and adapt format, timing and topics based on participants’ needs and interests..
Once you register, you’ll receive details about upcoming sessions and the Zoom link to join. You’re welcome to participate as your schedule allows, attending every session is not required to be part of the Community of Practice.
Centring queerness in cancer care
At our recent Community of Practice gathering, oncology social workers Margo Kennedy (Princess Margaret Cancer Centre) and Dani Taylor (Young Adult Cancer Canada) explored what it meant to centre queerness in cancer care.
The intersection of gender identity and cancer
Back in October, we hosted our first Community of Practice gathering. We were joined by Laura Imayoshi and Alphonse Daniel for a powerful conversation exploring the intersections of gender identity and cancer care.
“I loved finding community, giving me hope that there are people who are trying to make change happen to make cancer care a more inclusive space.”
